Back in July, the UN Global Compact commemorated 20 years of existence. The UN Brief interviewed Dan Thomas, Chief Communications Officer, about the history of the UN Global Compact, an initiative of the late  United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, and the celebrations that took place during the week, at the UN in New York.

With more than 11,000 companies signatories, the UN Global Compact brings companies closer to the communities where they operate, by abiding and reporting on progress made on the UN Global Compact 10 core principles of corporate citizen responsibility.

UN Secretary General António Guterres is a fierce advocate, and has launched an ambitious plan during the last World Economic Forum gathering in Davos, calling businesses to task in order to achieve the objectives of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
